Every day on LinkedIn, we see excellent posts about how to improve our listening skills. While they offer great advice, what's often overlooked is a deeper root cause of our poor listening: our mind's tendency to interpret and judge based on past experiences and conditioning. In the past four years, I've authored over 200 blog posts and created hundreds of designs that encapsulate key insights and learnings at Space Beyond Boundaries alone. These creations reflect my transformative journey into transcendent leadership, capturing essential ideas, influential people, and significant events. The metamorphosis I experienced during this time was nothing short of remarkable. I share this to highlight the extraordinary potential within and available to each of us. So this is much more than a book about leadership. Originally, I planned to present these insights in a six-part series titled Be a Leader of the Future NOW, with each volume diving into different leadership facets—ranging from awareness, collective wisdom, and forward thinking. However, I am now considering bringing together these reflections into a single, comprehensive book. I invite your thoughts. Would it be better to explore these insights in a single book, or a series of volumes, each revealing new dimensions? How is it that we see the same leadership advice and maxims repeated endlessly yet we still can't seem to get enough? I'd suggest that desire alone is not enough. Most leadership advice focuses on external strategies: how to communicate, manage time effectively, inspire teams, or take on the traits of the ideal leader. These are important skills, but they skim the surface of a deeper issue and rarely take hold over time. They ignore the foundational element of leadership: the leader’s inner world. The essence of leadership and effective team membership in the 21st century lies in self-leadership and the inner transformation of individuals to navigate and thrive in a tumultuous and rapidly changing world. In my article published in the Cutter Amplify journal, I share how my own inner leader journey unfolded and how I've led others to travel this path. The layoffs and frequent reorganizations we experience are a failure of leadership to fully connect with their teams and even more importantly, themselves. It's a tremendous missed opportunity to tap into the collective intelligence and human potential that could drive real change that makes a difference and lasts.
